Sailing : J/70 UK Grand Slam Series Kicks Off with Thrilling Competition

The UK J/70 season kicks off with the Grand Slam 1, hosted by the Royal Thames Yacht Club on April 24-25. This seven-event series ignites excitement as over 20 J/70s depart from the Hamble River and Cowes, converging on the Hill Head plateau for their first race since October.

What follows puts the entire season in context, highlighting the competition and innovation within the fleet. Several teams have already shaken off the rust during preseason training, while newcomers prepare for their first J/70 start line experience. Defending champion Ali Hall's Calypso returns, alongside Jelvis, the reigning UK national champion, and DSP, last season's Corinthian winners.
