The Kiwis tackle a challenging day on the Hauraki Gulf, searching for wind after two days of gales. Friday brings blue skies but little breeze. They set sail at noon, navigating the Rangitoto Channel in a weak northerly wind. Dead spots hinder their progress, especially as wind splits around Rangitoto Island. They excel while foiling along the island's edge but soon stall in the calm. A tow gets them across the windless gap to Motuihe Channel, where they find better conditions. The Kiwis execute multiple windward-leeward maneuvers before returning to the Rangitoto Channel. They wrap up the day around 6:00 PM with another windward-leeward run. More insights to come from the Recon Unit's report and video.
