Scotland Poised to Host WRC in 2027 After Funding Success

The World Rally Championship heads back to Great Britain in 2027 with a new three-year deal for Rally Scotland. This marks the end of a seven-year absence since Wales Rally GB dropped off the calendar in 2019 due to funding issues. Scotland, chosen for its challenging terrain and robust infrastructure, will host the event from Aberdeen's £330m P&J Live at The Event Complex Aberdeen. Stages will feature closed forest gravel roads, showcasing some of the UK's best rally tracks. The rally will debut the WRC's new 2027 technical regulations cars. After unsuccessful bids for 2026, the Scottish government, Aberdeen City Council, and Aberdeenshire Council have secured funding for this major motorsport event. A candidate/test rally is in discussions with the FIA for 2024. The return of WRC underscores the deep-rooted passion for rallying in the UK.
