Scotty Dickson of Long Beach Yacht Club clinches a historic 15th Ficker Cup title, solidifying his dominance in international match racing. Here’s why his victory sets the stage for the upcoming Congressional Cup and showcases his exceptional skills.

Dickson's journey began with a strong opening day, finishing 6-1 before securing an 11-3 record in the double round robin stage, leading into the knockout rounds. He continued his impressive run, defeating Sweden's Theo Westerlind 3-0 in the semi-finals and then sweeping past Oscar Engström with another 3-0 victory in the finals. Engström, who defeated Christopher Weis in the semis, finished second overall, while Weis claimed third place after besting Westerlind in the petit final.

Both Dickson and Engström earned invitations to the prestigious Congressional Cup later this week, as announced by Chairman Ken Mattfeld. The Ficker Cup, held over three days, featured intense competition and strong winds exceeding 20 knots, challenging the crews on Long Beach Yacht Club's Catalina 37s. Remarkably, the event attracted a large crowd and was live-streamed globally, demonstrating its appeal. The award presentation by Deon McDonald, daughter of the event's namesake, highlighted the legacy of excellence in this prestigious regatta.
