The second day of the 2026 ILCA 6 Masters World Championships showcases fierce competition in classic Athens sea-breeze conditions. Sailors gain crucial insights into their performance and the evolving leaderboard as they tackle challenging winds.

Racing kicks off on schedule with a southerly breeze of 6-8 knots, escalating to 11-13 knots in the afternoon. The reliable wind and moderate sea conditions allow the race committee to complete both races without a hitch. Current leader Jon Emmett from Great Britain expresses his excitement: “I loved the racing today. Few sailors hold a speed advantage in these conditions, making every mistake costly.”

Greek competitor Anna Agrafioti shares her experience, stating, “The wind was similar to yesterday. These are not my favorite conditions, but I’m thrilled to compete on home waters in such a well-organized event.”

After four races, consistency becomes vital, and the standings remain tight across all divisions. The competition resumes tomorrow, with the first warning signal set for 13:00. Sailors continue their quest for championship honors at the Nautical Club of Kalamaki, organized in collaboration with the ILCA Class Association and the Hellenic Sailing Federation. Stay tuned for updates as the event unfolds!
