The NZ Finn team delivers an outstanding performance at the Porsche Finn World Masters in Brisbane, showcasing their talent against top global competitors.

This regatta, featuring 108 sailors from 17 countries, stands out as the most competitive master’s fleet ever assembled in the Finn class. The racing conditions varied significantly, from sunny 6-15 knots to gusty 16-22 knots, creating a challenging environment on Moreton Bay.

Brendon Casey, the Australian National Champion and 2012 Finn Olympian, narrowly claims victory with a one-point lead over Olympic silver medallist Rafa Trujillo, while Karl Purdie finishes third, eight points behind. The final race saw a tense battle between Casey and Trujillo, ending so closely that neither knew the outcome as they crossed the line.

The NZ team's performance marks their best showing at the FWM, with Karl Purdie, Ray Hall, and Joe Spooner all contributing to a strong collective effort. Prior to this, the team participated in the Australian National Championship, where they faced intense competition.

Overall, this regatta not only highlights the skill of the NZ team but sets the stage for future competitions in the Finn class.
