Tom Dolan's dream of victory in La Solitaire du Figaro Paprec Leg 3 abruptly ends as he runs aground while leading the fleet.

This shocking turn of events reveals the unpredictable nature of competitive sailing.

Dolan, alongside Loïs Berrehar (Banque Populaire), struck ground at 00:16 on the Chaussée de Sein, just off the Île de Sein. Initial attempts to free his boat failed due to the falling tide. With the help of the Île de Sein lifeboat crew (SNSM), Dolan deployed anchors to stabilize the vessel. However, after five hours of struggle, he was airlifted by a French Navy helicopter at 05:40 as conditions worsened. Thankfully, Dolan is safe, but his hopes for a second consecutive victory are dashed off Brittany’s coast, leaving the race wide open for others.
