Genesis takes a bold step into GT3 racing with the unveiling of the Magma GT3 Concept at Le Mans. This ambitious move signals their intent to join the competitive landscape of GT3, following giants like Mercedes and Toyota.
What follows puts the whole situation in context. While Genesis showcases its racing aspirations, it currently views the GT3 model as a “potential future project.” The Magma GT3 Concept is designed specifically for GT3 regulations, marking a departure from simply modifying existing road cars.
Genesis team principal Cyril Abiteboul emphasizes that this initiative is part of a broader long-term strategy: “Genesis Magma Racing is a long-term project, and here we have one possible direction we can take.” The brand has already made strides this season in the World Endurance Championship, with its LMDh prototypes qualifying sixth and ninth at Le Mans.
However, Genesis has postponed its entry into IMSA’s GTP series until at least 2028. As Hyundai Motorsport continues its commitment to motorsport, including the i20 N Rally1 in the World Rally Championship, the future of the Genesis Magma GT3 remains uncertain but promising.
