Alejandro Cachón is establishing himself as one of the great promises of WRC2 after his impressive performance at the Rally Islas Canarias, where he secured second place in his category and tenth overall. Here’s why this result marks a milestone in his career and in the Repsol Toyota project.
The Asturian, backed by Toyota Gazoo Racing Spain and Repsol, demonstrated his consistency in a demanding rally of 301.30 kilometers and 18 timed stages. From the start, Cachón was in the fight, standing out in an exciting duel with Léo Rossel for second place, which was decided by the smallest of details. Rossel's transmission failure on Sunday allowed Cachón to solidify his position, a result that reflects his solid performance throughout the event.
Although the victory went to Yohan Rossel with a powerful Lancia, Cachón acknowledged that his team is at a competitive level, even though the Lancias have an advantage in power. However, the driver remains undeterred and focuses on maximizing his performance. With these results, Canarias is establishing itself as his territory and reinforcing his path towards the elite of rallying.
