Sébastien Ogier takes the lead in the Rally of Portugal after Adrien Fourmaux suffers a double puncture. What follows puts the whole situation into context.

On an afternoon full of surprises, the Góis stage (15.66 km) becomes the scene of unexpected incidents. Oliver Solberg (Toyota) nearly rolls over while taking a corner too aggressively. Despite the scare, his Yaris barely suffers any damage. However, Adrien Fourmaux (Hyundai), the leader at that moment, is not as fortunate. His incident costs him almost 30 seconds and leaves him vulnerable with his tire reserves depleted.

Ogier (Toyota) seizes the opportunity and sets the best time, surpassing Sami Pajari and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) by 8 and 1.4 seconds, respectively. In SS9, Pajari makes a mistake that costs him valuable seconds, while Ogier continues to show his pace. Neuville cuts down time, increasing the pressure on Ogier before an intense Saturday.

The day ends with Alejandro Cachón and Borja Rozada retiring in WRC2 due to an alternator problem, leaving the Spanish duo out of the competition. The fight for the podium is heating up in Portugal.
