Britain’s top young sailors faced off at the RYA Youth National Championships, showcasing their skills in a variety of challenging conditions. Over 280 competitors raced from April 3-10, 2026, at Hayling Island Sailing Club, marking a historic split into two four-day blocks for the first time.

The competition featured six classes, including the 29er skiff and foiling Nacra 15 catamaran, with races held both inside Chichester Harbour and out in Hayling Bay. RYA Youth Racing Manager Oli Woodcock praised the venue for its diverse sea states, which pushed sailors to elevate their performance. He noted the impressive resilience demonstrated during tough racing conditions.

After an intense week, Jac Bailey-Ben Sinfield captured their second consecutive RYA Youth Nationals title, navigating the tricky waters with effective boat speed and strategic starts. They aim to excel at the 29er worlds in Germany and secure selection for the Youth Sailing Worlds in December 2026, where they seek redemption after a challenging experience last year.

With 10 champions crowned, all eyes now turn to the summer internationals, which will serve as key selection events for representing GBR at the upcoming Youth Sailing Worlds.
