Young sailors soar at Middle Nene Sailing Club as the FM Sailing Northamptonshire Youth Series continues. This second leg, held on April 25, 2026, draws competitors aged 10 to 18 from across the region, including Wiltshire and the Isle of Anglesey.

Twenty boats compete across three fleets: Osprey (PY 1450+), Eagle (PY 1368/1369), and Falcon (PY up to 1367). The event mixes junior racers familiar with national competitions alongside first-timers, all supported by a dedicated regatta team and numerous support crafts.

Despite initial concerns over light winds, a gentle breeze emerges just in time for the first race, ensuring successful sailing conditions throughout the morning. After lunch, calmer winds persist, allowing for two additional races to be completed.

The day's excitement culminates in a buffet meal and a prize-giving ceremony, where trophies are awarded by Mark Greer, head of junior coaching at Middle Nene SC. Greer praises the participants and support teams for their contributions to a safe and enjoyable regatta.

This vibrant series runs through spring and summer, leading to the final event at Northampton SC on September 5, 2026, where overall champions will be crowned. Stay tuned for more updates on the unfolding racing action!
