Tata Steel Sailing Club hosts an exhilarating day of racing for the Welsh Sailing Dragon Series, attracting young sailors eager to showcase their skills. This event, held on April 18, marks the kickoff of the 2026 Dragon Series in South Wales, featuring a diverse range of competitors across three distinct fleets.
Newcomers to racing gain confidence through dedicated coaching, while seasoned sailors engage in fierce competition. A total of 17 boats battle it out in six races in the main fleet, with the regatta fleet showcasing eight boats in close, competitive action. Notable performances include Logan Claypole and Oliver Hanbury, who clinch third place in the Silver Fleet sailing an RS Feva, and Evie Ring, who secures second in the Junior Silver Fleet. Annabel Costell shines in the Regatta Fleet, claiming first place in her RS Tera Sport.
The success of the event relies heavily on the dedicated volunteers and coach Flo Tovey, who provide crucial support and guidance. The positive atmosphere onshore reflects the Dragon Series' commitment to fostering participation and enjoyment in sailing.
