The SVG Sailing Association launches Tide Turners - Young Stewards of the Sea, a vibrant youth-led initiative focused on environmental protection in the South Coast Marine Managed Area. The kickoff event occurs at the Vincy Sail Club in Coconut Grove, uniting young sailors and community supporters dedicated to preserving Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' marine ecosystem. Five young sailors deliver speeches on their ocean connections and the environmental changes they've witnessed. Key figures like educational consultant Joshua Gooding and project manager Anne Weinhardt outline the initiative's goals and acknowledge Louise Mitchell for her inspiration. Funded by the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Conservation Fund, Tide Turners empowers youth through education, biodiversity monitoring, and cleanups. Participants will gather crucial data on marine wildlife and pollution. The first workshop introduces 18 participants to marine biodiversity. Over the coming months, Tide Turners will continue engaging young sailors and schools in impactful activities, culminating in a Community Environmental Report.
