With entries nearing the 75-boat limit set last year, and early-bird registration open until May 12, excitement builds for the event on August 9. Notably, among the confirmed entries, there are 18 female helms, 20 under-18 sailors, and 14 aged 18 to 21, showcasing a vibrant future for the class.
Jenny Smallwood, Chairwoman of the National Firefly Class Association, expresses enthusiasm for the youthful demographic, emphasizing the class's unique blend of competition and camaraderie. Additionally, an anniversary raffle for a new Ovington Firefly adds to the thrill. The Firefly's legacy, dating back to 1947, remains strong, ensuring a bright future for generations to come.
