Zofia Wells (Glendowie BC) leads the charge at the Toyota NZ Optimist Nationals, dominating Day 2 with three consecutive race wins. She holds a solid six-point advantage over Will Handley (Murrays Bay SC), who sits in second with 11 points. Ally Burfoot (Tauranga YPBC) slips to third overall after a challenging day.
The competition, hosted by New Plymouth Yacht Club, features 153 boats from four nations: New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, and France/New Caledonia. In the Open, Green, and White fleets, the female sailors continue to shine at the top.
Among international competitors, Jack McGuire (Royal Queensland) stands out, currently ranked 11th overall. Leo Gillard (SRC Noumea) climbs the standings to 15th, while Carli Brodie (Laucala Bay, Fiji) finds herself in 78th position.
