Maxi Banque Populaire XI embarks on a thrilling 2,237-mile journey from Lorient to the Mediterranean and Gironde. This voyage is not just a delivery; it's a critical training mission for skipper Armel Le Cléac'h and his crew ahead of the Route du Rhum.
During the two-week trip, they’ll dock in La Seyne-sur-Mer, Saint-Tropez, Port Camargue, and Bordeaux, reinforcing ties with Banque Populaire Méditerranée, Banque Populaire Sud, and Banque Populaire Aquitaine Centre Atlantique. Sailing day and night, the crew hones their routines and tests onboard systems, while also collaborating with Ultim SVR-Lazartigue to enhance boat performance.
This initiative emphasizes the importance of sharing their passion for sailing with local communities, as Armel states, “It’s important to share our passion with as many people as possible.” The imposing 32m-long Maxi Banque Populaire XI certainly captures attention wherever it docks, showcasing the grandeur of offshore racing.
The journey kicks off in La Seyne-sur-Mer on May 9th, featuring exclusive experiences for young sailors, where they’ll engage with Team athletes about sailing’s demands and values. This is a vital step towards their ultimate goal: breaking the crewed round-the-world record this December.
