Sir Ben Ainslie takes a major step for education by launching the STEM Crew Live 2026 programme in London. This initiative, backed by the 1851 Trust, aims to inspire over 1,500 students across the UK, making STEM subjects accessible and exciting through the lens of high-performance sport.

On the launch day, Ainslie engaged with 120 students from inner-city schools, introducing them to hands-on activities like designing sails in wind tunnels and coding Sphero robots for an America's Cup racecourse. This interactive approach makes learning relevant and dynamic, connecting theoretical concepts to real-world applications.

The programme travels to various cities, including Blackpool, Birmingham, and Cardiff, with the goal of boosting interest in STEM fields among young people who often lack access to such opportunities. Ainslie emphasizes the importance of providing every student a fair shot at realizing their potential.

Kai Hockley, a Development Sailor for Emirates GBR SailGP Team, also highlighted the excitement generated by the event, noting how it opens doors to careers in the maritime industry. Students like 14-year-old Mariam from Mulberry School for Girls express newfound enthusiasm for STEM, seeing career pathways they hadn’t considered before.
