Paul Cayard and Frithjof Kleen (USA) clinch victory in a nail-biting finish at the 99th Bacardi Cup on Biscayne Bay. The competition kicks off with 77 Star teams battling in 15 to 17 knot winds. After over two hours of intense racing, Cayard and Kleen edge out six-time champions Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Bruno Prada (POL). Robert Scheidt and Austin Sperry (BRA) take third.

“It’s like a world championship,” says Scheidt, highlighting the fierce competition and camaraderie in the Star Class. The final approach sees a tactical duel, with Cayard holding his lane to fend off Kusznierewicz’s late surge.

Diego Negri and Sergio Lambertenghi (ITA) finish fourth, followed by Brian Ledbetter and Brian Terhaar (USA) in fifth.

A private Star Class party at Bacardi’s headquarters celebrates the tradition and legacy of the event, marking a significant milestone with 10 teams under 30 years old among the entries.
