Émilien Jacquelin joins Decathlon CMA CGM's NewGen development team, marking a significant crossover from biathlon to professional cycling. The four-time Olympic medallist, who secured gold and bronze at the Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo Games and double silver in Beijing 2022, has long been an avid cyclist, integrating biking into his training regimen.

Decathlon's Head of Performance, Jean-Baptiste Quiclet, emphasizes Jacquelin's strong connection with the team and his potential in cycling. "This post-Olympic year provides him the chance to explore cycling with our support," Quiclet states. The team plans an evaluation cycle in late spring to assess Jacquelin's explosive power and high VO2 max, traits that could translate well to the road.

Launched in 2024, the NewGen project aims to nurture talent from junior levels to WorldTour status. Jacquelin's shift to cycling embodies a growing trend of winter sports athletes transitioning to professional racing, showcasing new athletic potential in the sport.
