Jasper Philipsen clinches victory at Nokere Koerse, sprinting to the finish in mismatched shoes. The Belgian rider sports a shiny silver left shoe and a matte white right shoe, a result of an unexpected mid-race shoe swap. Philipsen damages his cleat 20 kilometers from the finish while avoiding a crash. Instead of stopping, he hands off the damaged shoe to his team car and quickly switches to the replacement while on the move. The silver shoe is the S-Phyre SH-RC903S Special Edition, familiar to fans from previous races. The white shoe, however, is an unreleased prototype with no visible branding, hinting at future Shimano releases. “It doesn't look very good, but it was efficient. It pays off, and maybe it will bring me luck,” says Philipsen. His adaptability shines as he powers through to secure his first victory of the season.
