Jonathan Milan is out of Milan-San Remo due to illness, Lidl-Trek confirms. The rising star raced at Tirreno-Adriatico last week, securing a victory in stage 7 but fell ill upon returning home. Lidl-Trek states, “Unfortunately, Jonathan Milan became unwell... the decision has been made for him to skip Milano Sanremo this Saturday.”
Milan joins teammate Mads Pedersen on the sidelines, who is still recovering from a severe crash. Pedersen's participation in upcoming Classics remains uncertain.
Milan-San Remo, once a sprinter's Classic, now favors aggressive riders and smaller groups. With Milan absent, the competition includes former winner Jasper Philipsen, rising star Matthew Brennan, and Danny van Poppel among others, all vying for the top spot in this prestigious race.
