Neve Bradbury is set for iliac artery surgery after a challenging period in her cycling career. Here’s why this procedure could be pivotal for her future performance.

Bradbury, a standout rider with Canyon-SRAM, burst onto the scene in 2024, securing a Giro d'Italia stage win and impressive overall finishes. However, since that breakout season, her podium appearances have dwindled, with only a third-place finish at the Australian championships this year. The recent Vuelta Feminina ended with a disappointing DNF, highlighting her struggles.

In an Instagram post, Bradbury reveals, “It’s been a tough period of racing while searching for answers, but I finally have surgery booked next week for iliac artery endofibrosis.” This condition affects blood flow during high-intensity efforts, necessitating a significant recovery period.

Notably, several elite female cyclists, including Annemiek van Vleuten and Marianne Vos, have undergone similar surgeries and returned to competitive form. At just 24 years old, Bradbury has a contract with Canyon-SRAM through 2027, providing her with a supportive environment for her comeback.

Despite the challenges ahead, Bradbury remains optimistic, stating, “A long road ahead, but I’ll be back.” Her journey back to the top will be closely watched by fans and competitors alike.
