Whitefriars Sailing Club invites the public to its Discover Sailing Open Day on Saturday, 9 May. This event offers a unique opportunity to try sailing and learn about the club’s offerings both on and off the water.
Visitors can experience sailing firsthand with experienced volunteer helms in safe, stable club boats, and buoyancy aids will be provided. No prior sailing experience is necessary, making it perfect for adults, families, and young people. Attendees can explore the clubhouse, meet club members, and discover various sailing and paddling activities available at Whitefriars.
The club caters to a wide range of ages and abilities, from learn-to-sail courses for adults to engaging junior programs for ages 8 to 18. Whitefriars hosts regular racing events during the summer and offers a diverse fleet, including National 12, RS Aero, Hansa, and Laser boats.
With a focus on accessibility, Whitefriars features a Sailability group and a thriving Women on Water initiative. Facilities include a clubhouse, boat berths, and free parking on site. Entry to the Open Day is free, and no booking is required. For more details, visit www.whitefriarssc.org/open-day.
