The 2026 Scottish and Northern Musto Skiff calendar kicks off with thrilling action at Ullswater Yacht Club, where Euan Hurter dominates the weekend.

Stay tuned to discover how Hurter’s performance sets the stage for the upcoming racing season.

Thirteen boats compete in five races under variable conditions. Saturday sees three races in light winds, testing competitors’ high-wiring skills. Euan Hurter clinches the top spot, proving youth and agility are key on this challenging racetrack. John Reekie surprises everyone with a win in the first race, overtaking Rob Trotter and newcomer James Penty, who led for much of the race. Hurter secures the second race win, while Robbie Richardson finishes strong, taking the last race of the day.

Sunday starts with an AP flag due to lack of wind, but conditions improve to a decent south-westerly breeze at around 8 knots. The fleet races five more laps, showcasing competitive spirit throughout. Euan maintains his lead, demonstrating impressive control despite pressure from the chasing pack.

Richardson, with the World Championships in Carnac just six weeks away, has his sights set on improving. This weekend marks a strong start to the season, reigniting excitement among sailors after a long winter break.
