The inaugural Melges 15 UK Nationals is set to take place from July 10 to 12 at the Royal Torbay Yacht Club, promising exciting racing on some of the finest waters. Here's why this championship could redefine competitive sailing in the UK.
The 2026 Melges 15 season is gaining momentum, with growing fleets in Lymington and Warsash. A Demo Day at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club in Burnham-on-Crouch on May 30 offers a chance to experience the Endeavour Trophy waters, followed by a race day on May 31. Lymington hosts an event on June 21-22, with boats available for hire at just £100 per day.
The UK Nationals coincide with the Torbay Dinghy Regatta, where a vibrant atmosphere awaits. Bob Penfold from the Royal Torbay Yacht Club highlights the club’s excitement in hosting the Melges 15 class for their first national championship. Eleven boats remain available for charter at £175 per day, ready for action at the club’s dinghy park.
The event features a warm welcome for competitors and families, including pre-regatta drinks and a BBQ on July 11, accompanied by live music. With over 100 boats already racing in North America and mainland Europe, the Melges 15 fleet is rapidly growing. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the action!
