King Charles III endorses Emirates GBR ahead of the Bermuda Sail Grand Prix, meeting Driver Dylan Fletcher MBE during his state visit. This royal recognition could elevate the team's momentum as they approach the race weekend.
Fletcher presented The King with a model of the Emirates GBR F50 race boat, a high-speed 50ft foiling catamaran capable of soaring over 100 km/h. He expressed pride in representing Emirates GBR and highlighted the importance of the Endeavour Programme, which makes sailing accessible to Bermuda's youth. The model will be displayed at Government House, symbolizing the royal support for the team.
The Apex Group Bermuda Sail Grand Prix takes place on May 9 and 10, marking the fifth event of the Rolex SailGP Championship's 2026 Season. Emirates GBR currently ranks second with 28 points, trailing Australia’s BONDS Flying Roos at 35, while the USA holds third with 27 points. As the reigning champions after clinching the 2025 Season Grand Final, Emirates GBR is the target for the other 12 nations competing.
Fletcher’s engagement with local youth through Endeavour underscores the team's commitment to empowering the next generation. This aligns with the 1851 Trust's mission, which promotes STEM education through sailing, showcasing the powerful intersection of sport and education.
