Luke Rossiter, just 36, receives life-changing news: after only six weeks of chemotherapy, he is in remission from stage 3 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. This pivotal moment fuels his ambition to complete a solo Atlantic crossing later this year.
What follows puts his incredible journey into perspective as he transforms adversity into opportunity. Diagnosed earlier in 2026, Luke sets out to inspire others while raising funds for Cancer Research UK and REST (Repatriation Services Trust). So far, he has raised over £10,000, with plans to use part of the funds for his crossing on his Sigma 33 yacht.
"Sailing has always been a huge part of my life," Luke shares. His mission is not just personal; it’s a lesson for his children, George and Olive, showcasing resilience in the face of fear. The upcoming solo voyage will pose significant challenges—weeks at sea, storms, and the need for self-reliance—but Luke is ready to embrace them.
He emphasizes the importance of hope and determination during tough times, stating, "If this journey can raise money for charities and inspire others, it already means more than the miles I hope to sail." As boat preparations kick off this week on the River Itchen in Southampton, Luke’s journey of hope continues.
