The 57th Semaine Olympique Française kicks off in Hyères with 705 elite sailors representing 59 nations, all aiming for Olympic glory. This competition is crucial as athletes set their sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
Racing begins tomorrow at 11:00 AM, promising intense battles across ten Olympic classes. The Bay of Hyères transforms into the epicenter of Olympic sailing, featuring seven race courses that extend to the Giens peninsula. Conditions start with light winds under 10 knots but are expected to pick up mid-week, adding to the strategic nature of the races.
The event also emphasizes public engagement, with the event village reopening for hands-on sailing experiences from 10:00 to 18:00 throughout the week. Attendees can participate in sailing sessions, virtual reality marine conservation activities, and workshops, including nautical crafts and live art demonstrations by Elenore Gentile.
Spectators can closely follow the races via shuttle boats, and meet-and-greet sessions with athletes like Lauriane Nolot and Marie Barruet will enhance the overall experience.
