South Korean bobsled pilot Yunjong Won and Estonian biathlete Johanna Talihärm are elected as athlete representatives to the International Olympic Committee at the Milan Cortina Winter Games. Won secures his spot with 1,176 votes, leading an 11-candidate ballot. Talihärm follows, earning 983 votes. A total of 2,393 votes are cast, representing 83.4% of eligible athletes. Notable candidates who fall short include former Olympic champions Cong Han, Marielle Thompson, and Oleksandr Abramenko. Won, 40, earned a silver medal in the four-man bobsled at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics and has competed in Sochi 2014 and Beijing 2022. Talihärm, 32, has also participated in the last three Winter Games. They replace Emma Terho and Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen, whose terms end Sunday. Athletes hold 15 elected member positions at the IOC.
