Pwllheli Sailing Club's ISORA coastal race this weekend delivered thrilling action despite light winds. Here’s why the dynamics of this race could reshape the standings for the season.

Saturday's race kicked off with challenging conditions, prompting a shortened course. Mark Thompson's J97 Jac y Do secured a stellar start, but it was Andrew and Sam Hall's Lombard 46, Pata Negra, who took the lead after rounding 'Sponsorship available Mark 2'. As the wind filled in, Pata Negra surged ahead, followed by Nigel Ingram's XP 33, Darling xx, and Paul Sutton's Farr X2, Lightening, who regained lost ground with their spinnakers.

Pata Negra claimed line honors and 1st overall on corrected time, while Darling finished 2nd overall and 1st in class 2. Jac y Do rounded out the top three, finishing 3rd overall and 2nd in class 2. The Class 1 title went to Finally, just two minutes ahead of Excession.

Sunday's conditions shifted to flat seas and bright sunshine, presenting new challenges. Paul & Sam Kitteringham's Finally took line honors again, but Stephen Tudor & Mark Thompson's J70 Sgrech Bach clinched the victory on corrected time.

Next up, Pwllheli Sailing Club hosts more racing from May 2nd to 4th.
