Ron Brown, a pillar of the NZ Marine Industry, passed away in early February on the Gold Coast. His legacy includes significant contributions to Epiglass and Altex Coatings, both key supporters of New Zealand sailing initiatives. As Chairman of the Marine Industry Association’s Refit Sector Group, Ron played a crucial role in establishing standards that professionalized the superyacht refit sector, boosting its economic impact.
His funeral service broadcasts today at 5:00 PM at the Quarter Deck, RNZYS. All are welcome.
In the 1980s, Ron was a leading figure at Epiglass, later taking on senior roles at Altex and the Resene Group across New Zealand and Australia. He earned respect for his fair and integrity-driven leadership. His efforts positioned New Zealand as a premier destination for superyacht refits.
