The Bol d'Or du Léman tests both skill and resilience, as professionals and amateurs race side by side on the unpredictable waters of Lake Geneva. This year’s 87th edition showcased the relentless spirit of competitors who faced shifting winds and strategic dilemmas.
The race kicked off under favorable conditions, allowing crews to find their rhythm swiftly. The Sails of Change TF35s quickly emerged as frontrunners, engaging in fierce competition with other leading boats. However, as the fleet approached the turning point, the wind died down, reshuffling the race dynamics. Sails of Change 8 opted for a longer route along the Swiss shoreline, while Sails of Change 10 took a chance on the French side in hopes of gaining an advantage.
Minutes later, the leading group capitalized on a favorable wind shift, leaving those behind struggling in tricky conditions. Despite the setbacks, both crews remained undeterred. Yann Guichard from Sails of Change 8 reflected on their challenging journey, while Duncan Späth from Sails of Change 10 acknowledged the difficulties faced by his team. Ultimately, this edition highlighted the essence of teamwork, showcasing unwavering dedication even when navigating the obstacles of Lake Geneva.
