The OK Dinghy World Championship, celebrating its 70th anniversary, is set to take place in Denmark, where it all began. This year, over 200 boats will compete, including 19 from Britain and one Canadian who hails from Devon.
The British fleet boasts standout competitors like 2022 World Champion Charlie Cumbley (GBR6) and current European champion Matt Howard (GBR2298). Both are expected to contend for the title, alongside Ben Flower (CAN26), who finished sixth last year. Chris Turner (GBR44) and Alex Scoles (GBR13), known for their impressive track records, could also pull off surprises if luck shines on them.
Other notable participants include Tom Bayliss (GBR2213), Thomas Lonsdale (GBR33), and Andy Dalby (GBR2273), all eager to improve on last year's performances. Newcomers like Alex Oyston (GBR26) and Harvey Leigh (GBR2270) are also ones to watch.
The event promises fierce yet friendly competition, with close racing expected due to the boat design. Sailors will experience not just the thrill of racing, but also camaraderie and fun off the water. With the stage set, the quest for the title of OK Dinghy World Champion is on!
