The A-Class Catamaran European Championships kick off in Mar Menor, Spain, with a thrilling start on Day 1. This event, hosted by the FVRM organization, showcases top sailors racing on perfect conditions, with winds reaching 12 knots.

The opening day features three races, and the fleet wasted no time getting into action. At 2 PM, the gun goes off, and the competition heats up. In the first race, Andrew Landenberger from Australia sets the pace, but it’s Jacek Noetzel from Poland who takes the lead after the first lap. The reigning Classic World Champion showcases his impressive downwind skills, holding off challengers like Gustavo Doreste from Estonia.

As the race unfolds, Doreste makes a bold move, gybing for extra speed and nearly catches Noetzel. However, Noetzel's timing pays off, and he crosses the finish line first, winning by a narrow margin of just 400mm. Marco Radman from Italy claims third, while Emmanuel Le Chapalier from France rounds out the top five.

With the fleet displaying skill and strategy, today’s races set an exciting tone for the rest of the championships. Expect more fierce competition as the sailors adapt to the evolving conditions.
