The 2026 Ocean Fifty class season kicks off today in Sainte-Maxime with the debut of the Sodebo Fifty. Here’s why this event could redefine the team's trajectory for the entire season.

From April 29 to May 2, coastal and offshore crewed races unfold in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, followed by another event in Ajaccio, Corsica, from May 6 to 9. This thrilling Mediterranean series promises intense competition in ideal sailing conditions. Sodebo Voile officially enters the fray with its new Sodebo Fifty, relaunched on March 29 after extensive renovations.

Skipper Léonard Legrand expresses excitement about his new leadership role, emphasizing the supportive atmosphere among a high-caliber crew. He aims to gauge the boat's potential while enjoying the camaraderie on board. The crew includes Charles Defontaine, the forward crewman and boat captain, who excels in technical aspects and optimization for future solo sailing. Tactician Fred Denis focuses on race strategy, ensuring the team remains on course and adapts to the competition. Charlotte Yven, responsible for trim and rigging, brings her adaptability to the multihull dynamics.

As the Sodebo Fifty makes its competitive debut, all eyes are on how this fresh team will navigate the challenges ahead.
