SVG Sailing Week 2026 wraps up with a record-breaking surge in participation, solidifying its status as a premier event in the Caribbean. This year, the number of entrants doubled, showcasing the event’s increasing allure.
Starting on March 29 with the Junior Championships on mainland St. Vincent, the regatta highlighted the country's commitment to nurturing young sailing talent. The competition then moved to the Grenadines, concluding in Bequia on April 6 with a series of thrilling races across various classes, including Racing, Cruising, J24, and Canouan CSA Division.
The prize-giving ceremony at Bequia Plantation House celebrated the champions and attracted a vibrant crowd, including Prime Minister Dr. The Hon. Godwin Friday and Minister of Tourism Dr. The Hon. Kishore Shallow. Event Director Aina Browne praised the participants and stakeholders, emphasizing the camaraderie and sustainable spirit of the event.
The regatta not only delivered exceptional racing but also provided a significant boost to tourism and economic activity in Bequia. Looking ahead, organizers are already gearing up for an even larger SVG Sailing Week in 2027, set for March 21-29. This event continues to position St. Vincent and the Grenadines as a top sailing destination in the Caribbean.
