The entry limit for the 2026 Tideway 80th Anniversary National Championships has surged to 120 boats as demand skyrockets. This decision could reshape the competitive landscape for this historic event.

The National Firefly Association (NFA) announces the increase in collaboration with Tenby Sailing Club, where 100 paid entries are already secured. The fleet is on track to hit capacity before the August event. This marks a significant moment; the last time a similar turnout occurred was at the 2006 class’s 60th anniversary regatta in Abersoch, which hosted 111 boats. The booming interest is fueled by high-quality boats, engaging social events, and a robust UK University Team Racing scene.

A formal amendment to the Notice of Race has been published, and interested participants should review the updated entry procedures. Those who have submitted entry forms will be contacted for payment if spots remain. Once full, a waiting list will be implemented.

Additionally, every competitor has a chance to win a brand-new, race-ready Firefly F4444 in the anniversary raffle, featuring top-notch equipment. The draw occurs at the NFA 80th Anniversary Dinner on November 21, 2026. The championships promise excitement at Tenby Sailing Club, with camping facilities nearby.
