Milan-San Remo ignites the cycling season as Tadej Pogačar and Mathieu van der Poel prepare for another epic clash. This race marks the first of three Monument battles, setting the stage for a fierce rivalry that’s reshaping cycling history.
Both riders face off in Italy before continuing their showdown at the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. Van der Poel boasts more Monument victories, having claimed three of the four major races, while Pogačar seeks to close the gap, with a sole win in Flanders.
The stakes are high for both. Pogačar has triumphed in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, Il Lombardia, and Strade Bianche, but the ultimate title of spring king remains undecided.
With 13 of the last 15 Monuments captured by these two, they dominate the landscape of professional cycling. The fight for supremacy continues this spring.
