2026 Sail Port Stephens Performance Series delivers thrilling racing on Day 2, with a dramatic shift in conditions. Here’s why the results from today could reshape the standings for the final races.

The day begins with a poignant tribute on ANZAC Day, featuring an RAAF flyover and a moment of silence. Postponed at Nelson Bay, racing finally kicks off as Principal Race Officer Dennis Thompson guides the fleet offshore, where a refreshing seabreeze replaces the westerly winds, reaching 10 knots.

In the TP52 Gold Cup Act 3, First Light (Peter White) disrupts Matador’s winning streak, finishing just 24 seconds ahead after a fierce duel. Matador, however, claims a corrected-time victory, maintaining its lead in overall standings. Smuggler continues to chase closely in second place, while First Light’s strong performance keeps competition fierce with two races remaining.

In a standout moment, Don't Panic (David Davenport) dominates under spinnaker, defeating regatta leader Beau Ideal by over 10 minutes on corrected time. Although Beau Ideal retains the overall lead, Ambition and Edge remain in striking distance.

Division 3 sees Celestial C31, helmed by Sam Haynes, showcasing its superiority. The stage is set for an intense finish, with podium positions still very much in play.
