RMC Motorsport gears up to unveil its 2027 World Rally Championship contender this October, aiming to compete in at least half of next year's events. This Spanish team, founded by Roberto Mendez in 2004, becomes the second constructor to commit to the WRC's new technical regulations, partnering with Real Federacion Espanola de Automovilismo (RFEDA) for development.

The 2027 regulations introduce cost caps of €345,000, ensuring vehicles feature a tubular safety cell, double-wishbone suspension, four-wheel-drive, and a sustainable 1.6-litre turbocharged engine. RMC's WRC challenger will boast an original design, distinct from any existing road models. While the powertrain source is still under discussion, initial testing will see former circuit racer Javier Villa, a seasoned competitor in GP2 and the World Touring Car Championship, behind the wheel.

Manuel Avino, FIA vice-president, praises Villa’s extensive experience, highlighting its value in shaping the new car's debut. RMC Motorsport's strategy includes not only racing under its own name but also producing vehicles for customer teams. The focus remains on building a reliable car, setting the stage for robust competition in the evolving landscape of the WRC.
